New pumps, properly sized

Well Pump Replacement in Northeast Georgia

When a motor is truly finished, the new pump should be chosen for the well you actually have and the way your household uses water today, not copied from a faded label on the old one.

  • Sized to measured well yield
  • Pipe and wire checked as they come up
  • Most swaps finished in one day
  • Parts and labour warranty

Choosing the new pump

Sizing a Replacement to the Well, Not the Old Label

The label on a failed pump tells you what somebody installed, possibly twenty years ago, for a household that may have looked nothing like yours. Matching it like for like is quick, and it quietly carries every old mistake forward.

Wells in this part of Georgia draw from cracks in solid rock, and two holes on the same road can yield wildly different amounts. A pump that moves more water than the fractures can supply will pull the level down to its own intake and run dry. One that is too small for the lift will labour for years and never deliver the pressure you expect. Three measurements settle it.

YIELD

What the Well Can Give

Gallons per minute the rock delivers over a sustained draw. The new pump should never be able to outrun it.

LIFT

How Far the Water Climbs

Pumping level, the rise to the house, friction in the line and the pressure setting all add up to the head the pump must beat.

DEMAND

What the House Asks For

Bathrooms, a garden spigot, livestock troughs, a workshop. Peak use on a busy morning is the number that matters.

Choices worth making now

Decisions That Come With a New Pump

With the well open, a few upgrades cost far less than they would on a separate visit. We will tell you which ones make sense for your setup and which do not.

Renew the Drop Pipe and Cable?

If the pipe is sound we reuse it. If it is old steel, brittle plastic or the cable jacket is cracked, renewing it now avoids a second pull a year from now.

Two-Wire or Three-Wire Motor

Two-wire pumps keep their start components down the well and need no control box. Three-wire setups keep them above ground, where a failed part costs far less to reach.

Constant-Pressure Control

A variable-speed drive holds pressure steady whether one tap or four are open. It suits larger households, though it adds cost and electronics that need protecting.

Dry-Run Protection on Weak Wells

On a low-yield well a pump protector shuts the motor off when the water runs short and restarts it once the level recovers. It is cheap insurance for an expensive pump.

Replacement questions

What People Ask Before Replacing a Pump

A submersible pump commonly runs eight to fifteen years, and some go well beyond that. What shortens the life is almost always something around the pump rather than the pump itself: a waterlogged tank forcing constant restarts, sediment from a pump hung too low, or lightning. Fix those, and the next pump should outlast the last one.

Not automatically. We test the tank while we are there. If the bladder is sound and the tank is sized properly for the new pump, it stays. If it is waterlogged or undersized, putting a new pump behind it is asking for the same short-cycling damage that may have killed the old one.

For most homes, a working day. The water goes off when we start lifting and comes back once the new pump is down and flushed. Very deep wells or a full renewal of pipe and wire can run longer, and we tell you that before the work starts so you can fill a few containers.

Only if the well can feed it. On a modest-yield rock well, a larger pump simply empties the well faster and then sucks air. Pressure at the tap is usually better improved by correct switch settings, a properly charged tank, or a constant-pressure controller than by more horsepower.
